SRK in and as FAN!

The undisputed king of bollywood is excited already over his new release this Friday, “Fan.” Fan is an Indian thriller, directed by Maneesh Sharma and featuring Shah Rukh Khan as the protagonist. Produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films, the soundtrack album and original score are composed by both Vishal–Shekhar and Andrea Guerra. Film is scheduled to hit the screens tomorrow.
Fan is a story about a 25 year old ‘Gaurav’ who is overly-obsessed with his favorite superstar ‘Aryan Khanna.’ The first YouTube teaser was kept very subtle and decent, introducing the admiration of a normal fan. The second trailer however, took every audience by surprise. YouTube has recorded over 16 million views on Fan’s trailer.
It is for the first time in the history of bollywood when an artist went this far for prosthetic make-up. Needless to say, SRK is totally pulling it off. According to SRK, “this movie is a tribute to his fans, and he doesn’t want to compare this movie with any of his past or upcoming movies.” He also said in a press conference that this movie is really close to his heart.
Khan has been promoting his upcoming movie with utmost zeal and enthusiasm. The classic master stroke played by Fan movie’s team was when they acquired permission from Madame Tussauds to move his waxworks model in London from the museum to the London Eye to shoot a scene. The statue was dressed like his, ‘Jabra fan,’ Gaurav.
Not only this, Yash Raj Films also released a five-part series that examines the idea of what it means to be a fan. The first episode features fans of film and sports stars, other episodes are a tribute to Khan’s fans all across the globe, especially in India.
SRK also visited his college, Hansraj College, University of Delhi to promote his movie, along with the director Maneesh Sharma. The crowd was over-whelming. Entire north campus was blocked, as the students gathered in a large number to have one glimpse of King Khan. SRK is a graduate in Economic (hons) from Hansraj College; he collected his degree after 28 years during the promotion.
Questions were raised over self-obsession of SRK, after the release of first trailer by some of the critiques. Adding to his troubles, Central Board of Film Certifications deleted 7 scenes from his movie. When asked, SRK explained in an interview how the CBFC have different rules for him owing to his stardom and influential personality. He said, “their reaction towards me, makes me upset.”
Several protestors are allegedly calling him, “anti-national,” and are requesting common public to boycott his movie. On the other hand “The Fan Club” of SRK is showing its one hundred per cent support to their superstar.
It is just a matter of time, Box-Office will decide Fan’s fate. How many of you are watching it first day, first show? Book your tickets now!
