Twitter explodes, as both, men and women cricket team of West Indies seals the T20 cup of year 2016. West Indies became the first team in the history of cricket to conquer ICCT20 cup twice. West Indies beat England in finals, by 4 wickets in a very interesting match, and became the current ICCT20 champion.
In this nail biting match, England did manage to stay in the fight, until Brathwaite’s bat unleashed an audacious assault on Ben Stokes, clearing the ropes four times in a row to seal a four-wicket success. The final was played at Eden Gardens, in Kolkata, West Bengal. 66,000 rapt Indian fans witnessed West Indies celebrating victory ecstatically, as Stokes sat crumpled in the middle.
In World ICCT20 finals, captains who have won the toss have also won the games four out of five times. Darren Sammy, captain of WI cricket team won the toss 10th time in a row.
This world cup did not only saw high intensity on-field but some situations got serious off-field too. Pakistan cricket team was condemned by their fans in their own homeland after their poor performance in the tournament.
Mushfiqur Rahim tried to troll Indian Cricket Team on Twitter but ended up apologising after a harsh roast by millions of cricket fans on social media.
Another twitter controversy was raised between former England skipper Andrew Flintoff and Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachhan. Again this led to nothing but Andrew getting trolled by thousands of Indians on social media, including Abhishek Bachhan. Big B also made it to headlines. He was allegedly
accused of charging INR 4 crores to sing the Indian National Anthem. Later these rumors and accusations were shut by former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly.
Virat Kohli proved his unprecedented batting skills, consistently during the entire tournament. Also Indian skipper won millions heart despite of losing the cup. After the semi-finals he had some fun with an Australian reporter, who happened to ask about MSD’s retirement plan.
However, from now on, ICC will hold the ICCT20 cup after every 4 years. We’ll have to wait another 4 years to see India in world cup. But before that, ICC world cup is just around the corner.
